RF labels bring about large results

In the security industry many different things are used to try and stop shoplifting. One of these devices are called RF labels. An RF label which stands for Radio Frequency label. An RF label is placed inside any kind of merchandise from electronics, health & Beauty aids and various other items.  The RF security labels work together with an EAS system which omits a radio signal which alarms the EAS sensor when unpaid merchandise leaves premises.  There are also Decoy RF Label which don’t omit a signal but gives the impression it does light a regular RF labels.

Checkpoint security tags and checkpoint labels each do their part to stop shoplifting. They work in the same way that RF labels work they work together with an EAS system setting off an alarm when unpaid merchandise leaves premises. But when placing these RF labels and RF security tags one must placed them so they can be undetectable by shoplifters.

Early in my career I was trained to place two RF labels on an item the shoplifter would see this and remove the first RF label never bothering to check for any other RF security tags. Checkpoint security tags do work as long as they are placed properly on the merchandise. Some items already come with RF security labels from the warehouse. But there are still many items that need to have the RF security labels placed on them. So employees have to place the RF security tags on the merchandise and they must be shown how to do this properly to stop shoplifting.

So checkpoint labels and checkpoint security tags are a great way to protect a company’s assets. So if retail theft is an issue consider using checkpoint labels, checkpoint security tags and RF security labels. They may look small but they pack a big punch when it comes to deterring shoplifting

Take the Target Off Your Back

Have you thought about using an EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) system in your store? There are many forms of RF security systems out there; the best ones, however, use paper-thin RF security labels and the industry standard in the RF label world is Checkpoint labels and Checkpoint security tags. RF security tags are small hard plastic clothing tags that are nearly impossible to remove without a special key kept next to your registers.

You have probably noticed clothing tags on your floor or shoved into shelves and empty hangers. Unfortunately, shoplifters have realized that you aren’t using RF security tags or RF labels and you are an easy target. They run no risk of being seen attempting to remove an RF label and you aren’t using an EAS system to sound off when they take your merchandise. The only way to stop shoplifting now is to start taking it seriously.

You need to invest in RF labels and RF security tags. Shoplifters rely on anonymity to steal things. They don’t want to be noticed doing their evil deeds. When a criminal sees RF tags on clothing they are an automatic visual deterrent. No shoplifter wants to risk an RF security system going off and alerting everyone in the store that they’re trying to walk out with active RF security labels. It’s a small investment to protect your inventory and let shoplifters know you are no longer the easy target they’re after!

CHECKPOINT SYSTEMS REDUCE THE COST OF ASSET PROTECTION

All major retailers use a checkpoint security system.  The reason for this is simple.  Retail theft prevention is a priority!  Big retail has learned over the years that anti shoplifting devices are cost effective and get results.

With the benefit of learning from this experience specialty retailers and small business owners can develop long term loss prevention programs that will meet budget requirements.

Hiring a full time in-store loss prevention team to apprehend shoplifters is expensive and opens the business up to additional liability concerns.  Checkpoint security tags are a discreet and cost effective deterrent because most shoplifters look for exposed merchandise.

Checkpoint systems are the first thing a shoplifter looks for when considering which businesses to attack.  Having a checkpoint system in place indicates to a shoplifter that you are proactively engaging in retail theft prevention and may have trained loss prevention personnel on staff.

A company I recently consulted used checkpoint security tags by checkpoint systems to secure all sales floor and display merchandise.  The business couldn’t justify the cost of a full time loss prevention team and the owner realized early that retail theft prevention needed to be a priority because an entire display table of name brand athletic shirts disappeared a week after the store opened.

We installed a checkpoint security system at each entrance and comprehensive training was provided to all staff members.  Checkpoint security tags were placed on all display and sellable merchandise.  According to the client, when the suspected shoplifters returned to find the business secured with anti shoplifting devices they didn’t bother even coming into the store.

Any business that invests in the purchase of a checkpoint security system from checkpoint systems will see a return on their investment (ROI).

RF Label: Working Hard For You

If you pay an employee you expect him/her to work, right?  Well the same should go for the anti-theft devices you buy.  With the economy the way it is, we are all concerned with expenses.  That said, you have to have employees in order to make sales and in the same regards you have to utilize stop shoplifting tools in order to protect the profit from those sales.

So how can you make anti-theft products “work”?  There are several ways.  First, you have to have the proper employees.  Checkpoint Systems is a leader in innovative stop shoplifting tools, such as RF security tags, RF labels, cameras, clothing alarms, etc.  So now that we have hired the right “employee” in Checkpoint Security Systems, we need to do the training.

Systems are only as good as the people who work them.  Managers need to be properly trained on how to use the Checkpoint System cameras if they are going to track known shoplifters and avoid getting repeatedly hit by the same thieves.  Cashiers and other associates need to be trained on the EAS system so they know how to apply Checkpoint labels and Checkpoint security tags in the correct locations and respond to the alarms properly.  (A few tips on the RF security tags and RF security labels placement.  Put hard tags in seams of product to avoid damaging the merchandise.  Put an RF label near the barcodes (preferably on the inside of the package if possible) to help ensure deactivation at the register.)

Finally, you have to manage the program.  Shoplifting prevention is not a hand off process.  It requires monitoring, regular follow up to ensure proper functionality and fine-tuning; just like the rest of your employees. Make sure that your employees are placing the RF labels in the proper locations. You will also want to make sure that they are not placing the RF security labels directly on metal surfaces.  The good thing is Checkpoint systems offers great service to assist you in this process.

Team work is major part of Retail theft prevention

I started in the loss prevention industry over twenty years ago and things have changed tremendously.  Retail theft prevention is more than stopping your typical shoplifter.  There are many different systems put in place to prevent shoplifting and a Checkpoint security system uses various supplies in retail theft prevention.  Checkpoint security tags are one of various types of anti shoplifting devices available to business both large and small.

Checkpoint systems provide all the needed anti shoplifting equipment to help in the war on retail theft. The other part of the equation to help in this war is team work among employees. Business owners must explain to their employee the importance of retail theft prevention and all of the different ways this can be done. Employers must show employees how to place checkpoint security tags on properly and how they work together with the checkpoint systems.

If the equipment works properly and does the job it was meant to do then your retail theft prevention program will succeed. Anti shoplifting equipment has been around for years, but companies like Checkpoint systems keeps up to date with all the changes that occur.  So with every update in shoplifting methods Checkpoint security system comes up with updated Checkpoint security tags. This ensures that they can keep up to date with all the shoplifting techniques that arise every day.

So as the battle of shoplifter versus loss prevention continues Checkpoint security system will be in the front lines using their Checkpoint security tags as one of the many weapons to combat retail theft.

Reasons To Be Alarmed

Anti-theft RF security tags used as part of a stop shoplifting plan along with RF security system EAS protection of vulnerable high theft merchandise is alarming!

The shoplifters think it’s alarming because once the RF security system is installed in the store; they will have to decide on another retailer to visit in order to continue to commit their crime undetected.  The customer can’t remove the Checkpoint security tags once they’re attached.

RF labels are also alarming when it passes through the detection field of the Checkpoint security system’s antennas located at the store’s entrance.  The audible alarm and flashing light (on most models) alert store staff to the fact that an RF label is still attached to articles that are leaving the store and require attention.  An employee using a special detacher specifically designed by Checkpoint security systems removes the RF security tags or deactivates the RF security labels at the point of sale.

Anti-theft applications for the RF security tags are designed for almost any type of merchandise, including specialty items.  The RF (Radio Frequency) technology used in Checkpoint systems is the very latest and most advanced in the industry for retailers.  Also alarming for shoplifters is that the retailer can pick and choose which merchandise to protect.  Shoplifters will definitely avoid stores that utilize a Checkpoint system as part of its stop shoplifting strategy.  Apparel, sports gear, hardware, electronics, and almost any other type of merchandise you can imagine can be protected by one of Checkpoint security systems’ selection of hard tags or Checkpoint Labels.

An RF labels is best suited for items that a tag won’t work well on because of size or material, such as boxed or packaged items.

One thing a retailer won’t be alarmed about is the improvement in inventory shortage figures once an anti-theft program including a Checkpoint system, RF Labels or RF security labels are used in their store.

Anti Theft Tags Decrease Theft Not Sales

The most common stolen item at my store is denim. Until recently we had little to no anti shoplifting measures. It was like a free-for all. Items that were walking out the door just as fast as we were able to fill the shelves because we had no anti shoplifting devices. How are we supposed to do our jobs as loss prevention if the companies weren’t helping us out with any anti shoplifting support?

We recently started using Checkpoint security tags. Which makes sense since we are already using Checkpoint security systems for the store alarm. The Checkpoint security tags are simple and get the job done. You place the pin into the clothing and attach the tag portion and BAM anti shoplifting device to the rescue!

Checkpoint security tags are the king and queen in retail theft prevention. When a company starts using security tags it has a 30% return on investment (ROI) in the first year of installing them. I have worked with Checkpoint systems at other retailers. I have used their camera systems, alarm systems, deactivation pads, EAS (Electronic Article System) towers, and security tags. Checkpoint systems make my job a lot easier.

When scanning cameras looking to catch a shoplifter one of my favorite things to look for is people checking the merchandise for Checkpoint security tags. That is the first indicator that tells us that this person is looking to steal something. Most shoplifters will go through a few stacks of jeans to find one missing its security tag. I once had the Director of Loss Prevention for my company in my store. He had heard that we had been dealing with a lot of denim boosters in our stores and wanted to see the video. When we played it for him he had us pause and rewind it several times. He pointed out how the guys would check the pants for tags as they selected them. He really enjoyed seeing that the extra measures we have taken with security by adding checkpoint security tags to our merchandise were really paying off. When we first started using Checkpoint systems there was a lot of push back from the stores thinking we were going to hurt merchandise sales because of it. The Director of Loss Prevention had us copy the video for him and he played it for others in the company that were skeptical about using the Checkpoint systems. He showed them exactly where we are making an impact to their bottom line. Without these tags we would have lost a lot more merchandise then we did that year. We never heard another complaint after that. Just goes to show that Checkpoint security systems really work for retailers.

RF Done Right

A few days ago I received a service call from a new client who needed service on an existing Checkpoint system that he had purchased to stop shoplifting at his retail store. The problem he was having is that two days after the system was installed it started to false alarm. After talking with the gentleman I found out that he had purchased the system from an uncertified company that was selling “refurbished” Checkpoint security systems

He had attempted to contact the company he had purchased the Checkpoint system from but they were giving him the runaround and were not making any efforts to resolve his problem. After being unsuccessful with the “reseller of his refurbished system” he contacted Loss Prevention Systems, Inc. We promptly setup a service call scheduled for the following day. Upon arriving onsite the technician discovered what the problem was… everything.

The problem with an uncertified “reseller” is that they have not been adequately trained nor do they have the correct equipment to install a Checkpoint system properly. If you have someone who does not know what they are doing, you risk a similar situation. From the unique type of wire that is used to the software that programs an antenna, only someone factory certified on Checkpoint security systems will be able to ensure that your system will operate at its highest efficiency.

The “reseller” also sold this gentleman what he thought were Checkpoint security tags and Checkpoint labels. The problem was that the RF labels he bought were actually an aftermarket knockoff RF label. These knockoff RF labels are very unreliable. Genuine Checkpoint RF security labels and RF security tags are very hard to copy, these company’s that try to duplicate an RF label usually have at least one of two problems. Either a large number of RF security labels will not alarm the system or it’s what is referred to as a “stubborn” label, which means that the label will not deactivate at the time of purchase and causes a properly purchased item to alarm a Checkpoint system when your client leaves the store.

If you are considering purchasing a Checkpoint security system and RF security tags, don’t make the mistake of using an uncertified reseller. Let us help you get the right parts at the right price the first time.

ANTI SHOPLIFITING DEVICES: A SHOPLIFTERS WORST ENEMY

Retail theft prevention is a priority for all retailers and the use anti shoplifting devices is the first step to protect merchandise from internal and external theft.  Merchants continue to see alarming increases in shoplifting incidents as a result of growing economic pressure and checkpoint systems pay for themselves.

A checkpoint security system is the most comprehensive, simple and cost effective form of theft deterrence for merchants.  Checkpoint systems are easy to manage and this state of the art technology requires very little training and maintenance.

You have probably learned by now that most shoplifters are opportunists so the key to retail theft prevention is eliminating the opportunity.  Checkpoint security tags are difficult to remove without the proper tools and this forces shoplifters think twice before challenging the integrity of a merchant.

A retailer I once worked for used a checkpoint security system as the backbone of its anti shoplifting program.  We learned quickly that retail theft prevention must always be a priority so checkpoint systems were installed at every entrance to the store and checkpoint security tags were placed on any item we identified as a target for shoplifters.

We went about our business as usual and before we knew it our checkpoint security system was identifying and deterring our shoplifters.  These individuals attempted to remove the checkpoint security tags but were unsuccessful because the checkpoint security system gave us a chance to provide a little added customer service flare to our special guests.

The shoplifters were never seen for heard from again!

Retail theft prevention must be a priority to protect your company’s bottom line and checkpoint systems is the most comprehensive form anti shoplifting devices.

RF: Saving Your Bottom Line

There is no common conclusion among retailers on what constitutes the best anti-theft device.  There are all kinds of tools that the retailer can use to keep shoplifting under control depending on the severity and frequency of theft, the category and price point of merchandise displayed and the actual location of the store itself.  The common denominator seems to be that no matter what stop shoplifting measures the retailer takes; the shoplifter will always try to find a way to defeat it.

Convex mirrors, visible cameras, and two way mirrors are easily seen and avoided by shoplifters, as are sales people and other employees.  All a shoplifter needs is a second of privacy hidden from view to conceal merchandise and be out of the store with it.

Checkpoint Systems has a theft prevention plan designed to stop shoplifting by all but the most determined shoplifters.

The retailer makes the decision as to the criteria of the merchandise to be protected.  RF labels or RF security tags are attached to that merchandise and effectively ensures that a shoplifter will not steal it.

RF security labels are placed on the packaging of merchandise considered high theft.  There are large selections of RF labels available from Checkpoint Security Systems that attach to the packages with adhesive or are hidden inside the merchandise so that it is not visible to the customer.  If an RF label has not been deactivated by an employee and is carried out the door, an alarm will sound, alerting the staff to take action.

The Checkpoint security tags attach to apparel and ready to wear by a pin that goes through the garment in an inconspicuous place and secures the tag to the garment.  The RF security tags can be removed only with a special detacher.  As with the label, failure to remove the tag will result in an audible alarm at the exit.

Checkpoint systems, when combined with any RF label, can help any retailer who wants to cut his losses due to shoplifting.  The presence of the Checkpoint system alone deters most shoplifters since it is visible but not intimidating at the customer entrance and the Checkpoint labels and RF security labels are extremely difficult to remove or defeat.

Used by themselves or with other retail theft prevention tools, Checkpoint systems and RF security labels will significantly decrease a retailer’s loss to customer theft.
