RF security labels are the best in the business.

Security labels have been used for decades to help stores stop shoplifting.  There are several different types that have been developed throughout the years.  The most reliable solutions available today are RF security labels and RF security tag s.  RF labels and RF security tags work on a Radio Frequency.  This is important as the Radio Frequency helps prevent the troublesome false alarms that other systems have.  Since the systems are tuned to a specific frequency it is less likely that a cell phone or car door key fob will set off a false alarm as they are not on the same frequency as the system.  This is a huge win for customer service and employee productivity.

One of the top manufacturers of RF security labels and RF security tags is Checkpoint systems.  The Checkpoint labels and Checkpoint security tags are well known within both the Loss Prevention community as well as the shoplifting community.  I would have to say the latter is probably more important because the recognition of Checkpoint labels and Checkpoint security tags by the shoplifters is what will ultimately stop shoplifting.  Shoplifters do not want recognition in stores.  They are more likely to steal from a store without RF labels then they are one that does have them.  The shoplifters who will steal clothes with RF security tags will generally try to defeat the tag first.  Checkpoint labels and Checkpoint security tags are very hard to defeat so it further deters theft from your store.  While it is possible to do business in today’s economy without using RF security labels, I really don’t recommend it.

Shoplifting and Retail Theft Prevention

Shoplifting can be a serious problem for any retail business.  It is estimated that shoplifting accounts for nearly half of all retail loses and can turn a profitable into a problem store.  This activity can negatively impact a retail business’s bottom line and create an uncomfortable shopping environment.  As a result of this activity, many retail businesses are investing in anti shoplifting systems.

Many of these companies are turning to Checkpoint Systems to fulfill their anti shoplifting needs.  Checkpoint Systems provides a variety of security solutions that will meet a retail business’s needs.  One of these solutions is the use of Checkpoint Security Systems.  These systems most often use Checkpoint security tags.  The Checkpoint security tags enable the user to control external loss and can be used in an overall anti shoplifting solution.  Checkpoint security tags are the gold standard in retail theft prevention and create an environment that is conducive to customer service and business profitability.

While working for a large multi-national specialty retailer, I was able to see first hand the effectiveness of Checkpoint security tags.  The company decided to use Checkpoint Systems as their primary provider of Checkpoint security tags.  This was used in conjunction with an overall retail theft prevention program.   The use of these systems provided an environment the encouraged a policy of anti shoplifting and had a significant impact company-wide.  This reduction in shoplifting not only made the stores more profitable, but also increased the stores customer service ratings.  If your looking to increase your business profitability, develop anti shoplifting measures, and institute a retail theft prevention program, have a look at Checkpoint security tags.

Will the Checkpoint System Stop Shoplifters if They are Opportunists?

There are three main categories of shoplifters; the Opportunist, the Amateur, and the Professional. The Opportunist can be quite problematic, as they never plan in advance on stealing. They are presented with an opportunity such as getting back incorrect change at the register, a cashier not ringing up all items, or clothes left in a fitting room. The situation will get the better of them, and they will cause a loss to your store.

So how can you stop shoplifting when it seems that they only steal by chance? It is all in the preparation. By using Checkpoint labels and Checkpoint security tags you can greatly decrease the opportunity to have your merchandise stolen.

If a shirt is left in a fitting room and a customer goes in to try on some clothes, they may consider stealing that shirt since the employees don’t know its there. They will, however, look to see if there is an RF label or RF security tag. If one is present, they will leave the shirt and go about their business as they normally would.

Same goes for smaller items like jewelry or wallets. If this customer notices no one paying attention as they shop this area, they are again presented with an opportunity to steal. As they consider slipping that wallet into their purse, They will look inside for signs of RF security labels or some sort of Checkpoint security tag.

Using RF security labels and RF security tags is one of the easiest, cost effective deterrents to help stop shoplifting in your store. Once they are on your merchandise, they will stay on until removed at the point of sale. This visual presence will scare off the Opportunist shoplifter in your store.

Rescuing profits with Checkpoint systems

Retail theft prevention is on the forefront of most business owners’ minds lately.  The struggling economy, high unemployment and the ever decreasing value of the dollar can motivate some people to take up shoplifting just to make ends meet or to obtain those items that they otherwise cannot afford.  If a person has the mindset to be able to shoplift, a suffering economy will not stop them and may motivate them.  Anti shoplifting techniques will, however, slow down their efforts.

I work for a large retailer that is also seeing the effects of the economy on profitability.  Anti shoplifting measures are taken seriously by those of us in the loss prevention field in order to maximize our business’s profits while reducing the losses experienced.  We do our best to not stand idly by while our merchandise walks out the doors.

Businesses are seeing more organized retail crime among shoplifters as well, where items are stolen for resale.  These types of shoplifters can greatly impact a business by creating a significant loss in a short amount of time.  Retail theft prevention ideas can help slow down these shoplifters too.

When you would like your dollar to go a long way in retail theft prevention, Checkpoint systems are available.  Checkpoint security tags attach to your high theft and high end merchandise and sound an alarm should the item leave your business without being purchased.  A Checkpoint security system also provides a visual deterrent to the would-be shoplifter, announcing it, and your business, as one invested in anti shoplifting.

These are hard times, but retail theft prevention measures such as Checkpoint systems are available.  For a minimal investment in anti shoplifting, you can maximize profits for your business.

Can Checkpoint Security Tags Stop the Amateur Shoplifter?

Are you missing random quantities of merchandise? Perhaps items that aren’t normally on your high shrink list? If you are, then you are probably being hit by an amateur shoplifter.

What is an amateur shoplifter?  They can be anyone who enters your store with the intent to steal. It can be a teenager on a dare, a grandmother on a fixed income, or even a mother with a small baby. The first shoplifter I ever caught, put over 200 dollars in clothing under her baby in a stroller.

The use of Checkpoint Security tags or RF security tags probably would have been enough of a deterrent for her. As I watched her picking up clothes, she would check each one for an RF security tag. If the garment didn’t have the Checkpoint security tag , she put the item into her stroller.

Amateurs are not hardened criminals. The last thing they want is to be caught. Using RF labels on smaller items and RF security tags on clothing, bags, and shoes greatly reduces the losses to this particular type of thief. They do not want to run the risk of exposure. RF security labels and RF security tags  are near impossible to remove on their own, and these thieves know the alarm will sound if they try to leave with the merchandise. They know it its in their best interest to go to a different store and leave yours alone.

Retailers look for new Anti shoplifting programs to combat theft

Many retailers are taking an aggressive stance in their security programs. Many retailers are putting together anti shoplifting programs that will protect their assets. Retail theft prevention involves more than just hiring loss prevention officers. There are many other things needed to make a program work. Checkpoint security system can provide the proper equipment such as checkpoint security tags. This is a step in a right direction; checkpoint systems are geared toward protecting a stores asset.

In any retail business retail theft prevention must be address and taken seriously for them to work. This was an issue I had to address at one of my assignments I arrived at this one establishment. The location did not have a proper retail theft prevention program in place. Their anti shoplifting program consisted of a few fake cameras and signs stating the store was being watched. I explained that even though an anti shoplifting program is not going to prevent all of the theft, but Checkpoint security system will definitely help address the theft issue. Checkpoint security tags on merchandise will become a deterrent automatically, but when working together with the checkpoint systems will become a more effective system.

After the checkpoint security system was put into operation working together with a checkpoint security tags and a security staff. When they checked their shrink numbers six months later after inventory saw an improvement in all areas. This proved that checkpoint system does work proving that a good security system is a very good investment for any business.

Retail theft prevention a must for drug stores.

All retailers experience shoplifting at some point or other.  I have found that the smaller volume and specialty stores are often less likely to have anti shoplifting efforts in place as opposed to the larger chain counterparts.  One specialty retail setting that has a large variety of chain stores and independently owned stores are drug stores.  Now we all know that the chain stores use anti shoplifting devices such as EAS tags, CCTV and RX caps.  But I often find that independently owned drug stores don’t have many retail theft prevention efforts in place.

A word of advice is that all stores need anti shoplifting tools in order to remain profitable.  Shoplifters target stores that don’t use tools such as Checkpoint security tags and Checkpoint security systems.  Shoplifters are smart.  They quickly learn who is protecting themselves and who is not.  Then they take the smaller risk and steal from the stores without retail theft prevention devices.  There are many great tools that are available to small drug stores.  You don’t have to be a chain store to qualify for protection.  Checkpoint systems is very cost effective and is well known by shoplifters.  When a would-be shoplifter enters the store and sees the Checkpoint systems pedestals they know immediately that their job just got more risky.

And to be honest, that is the point.  Store employees can’t spend all day dealing with shoplifters and still give the customers the service they need.  Instead of sacrificing time doing business you can use Checkpoint security tags and Alpha RX Caps to deter your theft and keep your profits safe.  This will allow you to control losses and focus more on growing sales and customer satisfaction.

How Does The Checkpoint Security Tag and Label Stop Shoplifting In My Store?

Have you ever wondered how Checkpoint Security Tags stop shoplifting? The answer is easy once you understand how Checkpoint labels work.

There are two main components to the Checkpoint system. The towers, which are stationed at an entrance door, and the RF Security tags or  RF Security labels.

The Towers flank the door and send out a signal, creating a sort of force field around your door. Any time RF security labels or RF security tags enter this field, an audible alarm is generated. This alerts your staff to the door to offer quality customer service to validate a false alarm, or ultimately to recognize a theft in progress.

By just having the Checkpoint system at your door, many would be thieves will bypass your establishment, because you are not an easy target to hit. This element, in itself, helps stop shoplifting in your store.

The Checkpoint Security tags will also stop shoplifting by providing another visual cue. These RF Security tags affixed to garments are only deactivated when removed by a store associate. If you can’t remove the tag, the garment is useless to a shoplifter.

The final deterrent to stop shoplifting in your store, is the Checkpoint Label. These RF Labels are paper thin and can be applied to any sort of packaging, inside of wallets, or even in the pocket of a jacket.  This allows the legitimate customer to fully shop even the smallest item, and you are still protected. If an item with an RF Label that has not been deactivated goes out a door, the alarm will go off, and many times the shoplifter will leave the product and run away to prevent their apprehension.

RF labels proof that size doesn’t matter when it comes to security

The size of RF labels varies and can be used in different manners. Checkpoint labels mimic the appearance of price bar codes, these types of checkpoint security tags are a tremendous help when trying to figure a way to stop shoplifting in your business. The one thing about RF security tags and RF security labels is that no matter what how big or small your operation the main goal is to stop shoplifting.

RF labels, Checkpoint labels and RF security labels operate together with a detector system that is located at the exit door. When an item with a RF label passes through without being paid an alarm goes off. Checkpoint security tags also give the opportunity for retailers to display hi-value items because they have an RF security tag on them.

RF labels may be one of the smallest weapons in the fight to stop shoplifting and their presence is unseen by the public. But Checkpoint security tags get the job done they not only prevent shoplifting, but checkpoint labels also deter theft. So don’t let the size of an RF label, RF security label or RF security tag fool you they all deliver a big punch.

Anti shoplifting devices that help prevent ticket switching fraud.

There are many different ways for shoplifters to steal from a store.  The obvious way is for a shoplifter to conceal product and walk out without paying for it.  Another very common method, but one not often talked about, is ticket switching.  This method of theft involves taking the price label off of a low priced item and placing it on a high priced item.  The shoplifter will then go to the register and if the cashier does not catch the price change then the customer will pay pennies on the dollar for the product.

So how can you prevent this?  One answer is to make sure your cashiers are trained on your products so they have a basic knowledge of the merchandise price points.  They then have to pay attention to what they are ringing and question when an items seems to be priced unusually low.  To help I also suggest using Checkpoint security tags from Checkpoint Systems.  When you use Checkpoint Systems it is not necessary to put the Checkpoint security tags on all merchandise.  I suggest only putting them on high dollar and high theft items.  The immediate benefit is that shoplifters are wary of stealing products when they see you have a Checkpoint security system in place.  Remember, retail theft prevention is really the goal.

The second benefit is that if a customer comes to the register with an item that is low priced AND has an anti shoplifting device a red flag should go off to the cashier.  Since you generally put Checkpoint security tags on high dollar merchandise there would be no reason for an anti shoplifting device on the low priced item, thus the ticket could have been switched.  One quick price check from the department and you may have just stopped yourself from a loss.
