Alpha High Theft Solutions1 Alarm, 2 Alarm & 3 Alarm Devices

We are frequently asked what the difference between Alpha High Theft Solution devices that have 1 Alarm, 2 Alarm and 3 Alarm features. In the clothing security world we can use those devices in conjunction with a clothing alarm and regular security tags. These devices are used for merchandise that we have a more serious problem with or that shoplifters have targeted that may not be able to utilize traditional security tags on clothes.

Alpha Security 1 Alarm – These types of clothing security tags or devices will only trigger the antennas at the doors. A regular hard tag or label will do this. However, Alpha also has Spider Wraps, Cable Loks and other items that will cause an alarm.

Alpha Security 2 Alarm – A 2 alarm device will do what a 1 alarm device does plus it will “self-alarm”. Self-alarm means that if a shoplifter tries to remove the device, cut the cables, pry the device off or damage it the device itself will go into alarm. These 2 alarm devices have a built in sounder that produces about 90 dB of sound. That will immediately draw attention to the shoplifter. Normal repeated use by customers and store personnel will not cause an alarm. These devices are very robust.

Alpha Security 3 Alarm – These devices do everything that a 1 and 2 alarm device does plus when the shoplifter tries to leave the property the 3 alarm devices built in sounder, again about 90 dB goes off. The shoplifter then has a choice they can run down the street or mall with this sounder going off, attracting attention to themselves or they can drop the merchandise. The sounder will last up to 10 minutes once the shoplifter passes through the antennas.

These clothing security tags are as robust as any Checkpoint tags or Alpha clothing security device. They have excellent construction, solid plastic welds and high quality electronic components. Of course the added benefit is that they are reusable over and over saving you money and labor. Alpha High Theft Solutions are not intended to be for all merchandise. It is clearly more cost effective to use Checkpoint tags for the bulk of your merchandise. But remember your clothing alarm is only as good as the security tags on clothes.

Stop Shoplifters in Their Tracks

It is important that stores are consistent in their use of RF labels.  This consistency occurs when the store commits to ensuring every product in the store has an RF device either attached to it or integrated into the product or product packaging.  Shoplifters will be persistent and look for merchandise that is less protected and if they find merchandise that is not protected, they will target that merchandise.  I have seen shoplifters steal merchandise simply because it did not have a security tag.

Employee Theft: An inside look for what is missing – Atlanta Georgia

If your business is experiencing unexplained shortages, you may want to take an inside look for what is missing.  Simply put the problem may be an employee theft issue.  Businesses are always looking outside their doors to explain inventory shortages.  As a loss prevention professional, I know how hard it can be for a manager to look at their staff.  Internal theft is real and occurs more often than managers may think.  Managers should look at their staff with objectivity and look at the behavior and key performance indicators in an effort to get an informed assessment of their staff.

Taking a look at your employees does not mean that there is an issue of employee theft being committed by the employees.  An employee theft investigation can allow for an internal theft analysis of the inventory shortages to be done.  An employee theft investigation can help pinpoint t where losses are occurring.  The results may or may not be determined to be the result of employee theft.  However, when unexplained shortages occur, it has been my experience that they are almost always indicative of employee theft.

Time is always of the essence as businesses, especially retailer have a tremendous amount of exposure to acts of theft.  Retailers open their doors everyday to the public and leave them unlocked and open until they close.  If there is internal theft occurring it could have the potential to destroy any chance for a retailer to make a profit from the sale of their merchandise.  It is a positive when a retailer assesses their internal operations.

Sometimes Things Change. Background Checks – Atlanta, GA

Bottle Security a Sales Support System!

Bottle security was unheard of just a few years ago. The only tools that we had were cameras, keen eyes and good customer service. The problem is when you have a business that is as fast paced as a wine and liquor store you can’t have as much of a floor presence to deter shoplifters. Cameras are more for investigation after a loss has been incurred. As our first step for liquor bottle security we tried using lockable cases which was expensive and labor intensive since we would have to come away from the register every time a customer needed to select a product. Many times the customer was not sure of a selection asking many questions thus leaving the register area to clog up with customers. Bottle security was affecting our business by loss of sales as well as increased payroll to man the lockable cabinets. The frustration of watching our sales numbers plummet really caused us to scramble. I just wanted a bottle lock of some type, heck even a big padlock to secure the bottle!

These bottle locks were made specifically for liquor bottle security. The bottle lock slides over the top of the bottle and secures snugly. The bottle lock can not be removed unless you use the EASy bottle detacher which we keep at the point of sale. It is imperative to note that you must keep the detacher out of the reach of potential thieves. The EASy bottle lock is also alarmed so if tampered with will emit a loud alarm as well as making the contents of the bottle inconsumable. As a business owner I could not be happier with this investment in bottle security. Clothing Security Made Easy

In my role as a loss prevention manager, I take pride in my efforts to prevent shoplifting in my store.  I know that I want be able to see and detain every shoplifter that enters my store.  This means that there are going to be times when I’m away from the store and no one will be watching the merchandise. Given this truth, I ensure that my store use retail anti theft devices.

Soak Up Your Shrink with RF Security Labels
