Since the transaction was never completely processed, there is now additional cash in the drawer. At some point, the cashier will take this extra cash and pocket it, creating an employee theft situation. You would not see a cash shortage, but an inventory shortage.

In order to investigate this employee theft situation, you would either need to take a physical inventory of every single item in your store on a daily basis (not very realistic) or you could implement exception based reporting.

A Grazer in the Field – Bottle Security

My liquor bottle security and theft of alcohol. Well, this one had nothing to do with alcohol or bottle security.

This particular liquor store owner had been smart enough to use bottle locks for his liquor bottle security – specifically the EASy Bottle by Alpha Security. That’s My Name Don’t Wear It Out – Criminal Background Check

When applying for a new job, you may be leaving a lot to chance with your potential new employer. As an investigator, I take on employee theft investigation only when large or repetitive cash shortages or merchandise discrepancies appear. It is not very common to look at small dollar employee theft cases.

The Wrong One – Background Check Company

Whenever I try using a search engine to find background checks on someone, I am usually bombarded with online ads. These ads want to charge me money for personal information on an individual. There is usually some sort of teaser about how many results are found, and how many types of records there are – birth, divorce, arrest, death, etc.
