Why not tag it all?

The big concern about deciding what clothes to tag was always figuring out what was our top priority. With a limited supply of tags our goal was to always use the clothing security that we had on the merchandise that it would be most beneficial on. It was a combination of figuring out what merchandise was most expensive and what merchandise was most likely to be targeted for theft. We used those factors in order to implement our anti-theft devices as effectively as possible. While we were able to limit the theft of those protected items, we were still having major problems with theft elsewhere. When we protected one item the shoplifters just moved on to another. It was an endless game of cat and mouse, doing everything we could to figure out what was going to be targeted next, and get to it before the shoplifter did.

With the prices or hard tags and other clothing security options coming down, we don’t have to make those choices any more. Our game of chasing the next hot items has ended. Cheap tags allow for tagging strategies from focusing of a few key items to covering the whole store level. Now we can focus on more important things, like catching the shoplifters.
