There is a fair amount of internet traffic all circulating around wardrobing tags. These are the garment tags that are now being made famous by the high-end retailer Nordstrom’s.
Wardrobing tags have actually been around for a while; they just haven’t seen much press until now.
When a customer buys an item of clothing that they have every intention of wearing to an event and then return it, it is called wardrobing. This is different than a customer who buys an item and tries it on at home, instead of in a dressing room at the store. The customer might still return the item, but they have not worn it to an event or for an extended period of time.
To counteract this, retailers can use wardrobing tags like Alpha Security’s Alpha Shark Tag.
The Alpha Shark Tag is a red plastic tag that is attached with a pin closure. The pin clamps onto the merchandise. To be truly effective, the tags should be someplace conspicuous, such as the middle of the neckline on a dress or shirt.
The tags are easily removed with household scissors. The catch is that they should only be removed once the customer is sure they are going to keep the item. This is how the retailer knows that this item has not been worn and can be returned per company policies.
