The other day I went into my local drug store today to get a few quick things, and it turned out to be a not very quick trip after all. I was unfamiliar with the layout of the store and got a bit lost. I spent way too long walking up and down the aisles looking for what I needed.
Eventually, I did find the right aisle, and made it on my merry way. While I was wandering through the store I did stumble across a very small section of liquor. It was located at the far end of the store, and was barely a four-foot bay’s worth of product. I had to wonder if it was really even worth it to be there.
I did notice, however, that they did not use any bottle security. Ugh, I had to shake my head as I walked past. I couldn’t help thinking about what a recipe for disaster this store had conjured up.
Back corner of the store, no visible employees, no bottle security, hmm, it wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what would happen next.
It really was quite a shame to see. There was plenty of space on the shelf for the bottles to have liquor bottle locks on them. Because there were so few bottles, they would really only need a few liquor bottle locks to guard the entire section of inventory.
I’ll bet they would spend less to have the liquor bottle lock than what they will lose on one stolen bottles in just a few months. Talk about a return on investment.
