Since the vials are visible, and there is a warning not to tamper with the vials, a normal shopper will not suffer any adverse consequences from the Alpha Security ink tags.

These tags provide the normal risk of getting caught by an alarm if the tags are not removed from the merchandise prior to leaving the store.

A suspected shoplifter who tampers with these tags will get ink stains on their hands. A knowledgeable investigator or law enforcement officer can potentially use those stains as evidence in court since the ink can be matched to the broken ink vials in the tags.

In addition to the ink spilling onto a shoplifter’s hands, the ink will also stain the merchandise. If the merchandise is worthless, there is no point in stealing it. Clothing cannot be resold or worn easily when the ink stains the fabric beyond repair.
