It’s a Wrap – Alpha 2 Alarm

Alpha Security created their Alpha 2 Alarm lanyard lock for more than just purses, even though this is one of the best uses for that particular type of EAS alarm.

The Alpha 2 Alarm is a versatile retail anti-theft device. It can prevent shoplifting of a wide variety of accessories. The lanyards are large enough to work with large totes and handbags. They are not so big that they would not work for the smaller wristlets that are in fashion right now. The lanyard can also be used for other suitcases and luggage.

The Alpha 2 Alarm retail anti-theft device is a small block (only a few inches long) that has a wire lanyard permanently attached at one end. Find Your Silver Lining – Alpha 3 Alarm

Since the beginning of time, we have been bartering and selling wares to our neighbors and communities. Since the beginning of time, there have been those who are bound and determined to find ways to steal those wares. Shopkeepers have since been forced to find ways to prevent shoplifting.

If you fast forward to modern day methods, you will find one in particular has been a little difficult to combat – foil lined bags or jackets. If retail anti-theft devices (like an EAS tag) are concealed in the foil lining of those bags or jackets, it potentially will not register an alarm like it is supposed to. The thief can remove the tag at their leisure in their own private surroundings.

They have performed a series of tests where they wrap one of their Alpha 3 Alarm tags in a layer of foil. They measure the results and work up to four layers of foil. The second added layer creates a small bubble that the Alpha 3 Alarm tag doesn’t register in. However, increasing the layers does not increase that bubble.

The Old Stand By – Alpha Security

I can’t think of a time when Alpha Security hasn’t been a part of our daily operations. It seems like they have been around forever, and probably for good reason.

Who is Alpha Security, you say? I guess I should back up a bit. Alpha Security is a highly reputable company that designs, sells, and innovates retail anti-theft devices. Their whole mission is to find comprehensive tools to prevent shoplifting for retailers both big and small.

Their mission is to reduce both shoplifting and employee theft by using their retail anti-theft devices. They took the basic EAS tag and improved it by making them work for specific situations. There aren’t many companies out there that are interested in doing that.

Most of the other companies only want to see what is currently out on the market. They feel that a tag is a tag is a tag. If it works, why try to fix it?

So Completely Frustrating – Lack of Retail Anti-Theft Devices

Last week I went shopping to find a new pair of earrings. Because I was trying to match a particular outfit, I was limited with what style and color I could buy.

There were earrings missing, or lying on the ground in complete disarray. Just when I would spy a pair I really liked, there would be something wrong with them. Without a doubt it would be the only pair like that on the rounder, too!

It was so frustrating because this store had been completely ransacked in their fashion jewelry department. I went there specifically because they advertised having the best selection at the best prices.

It’s In The Signs – Alpha Nano Gate

The Alpha Nano Gate can be a perfect solution for restrooms. There are usually signs outside of the public restrooms inside of stores asking that you not bring merchandise inside that has not been paid for. Keeping Up With the Crowd – Alpha 3 Alarm

I should begin by saying that our primary goal is always to recover the stolen merchandise. Of course we would really rather prevent shoplifting before it ever happens, but that’s another story.

Given the choice between recovering our product and apprehending and arresting a shoplifter, we will always get our product back first. It is purely a financial decision – we want to recover our financial loss. It was worse before we started using Alpha Security for our retail anti-theft devices.

We started to use Alpha 3 Alarm for the simple reason that it is easier to track down our merchandise. When a shoplifter steals an item, we have to wait until he exits our store before we can apprehend. Unfortunately, we now have to contend with all of the mall shoppers. In the Corral – Alpha Spider Wrap

We recently re-designed the tool area of our store. Because the new area is a closed off horseshoe shape, it was deemed a corral. The concept was to reduce our shrink in power tools. If the shoplifters only had one way in and one way out of the department, there would be a greater chance of them being detected. Unfortunately, this didn’t work as well as expected so we went to plan B – the Alpha Spider Wrap made by Alpha Security.

Our corral would probably have worked out well, if we had taken the time to staff it correctly. Since the right hand (who made payroll decisions) didn’t know what the left hand (our loss prevention team) was doing, it was unfortunately a doomed concept from the start.

These wraps were attached to the outside of the boxes of our high theft power tools. Now there was a means to permanently prevent shoplifting regardless of how many labor hours involved.

It’s a Special Occasion – Alpha Shark Tag

The Alpha Shark Tag differs from most retail anti theft devices that are designed strictly to prevent shoplifting.

This is a plastic tag that attaches to the garment. It is in an obvious place on the clothes that makes it unattractive to be worn, especially in a formal setting such as a dance. It is also in a place that would be hard to hide or cover up with a wrap or jacket.

I read an article in a loss prevention trade magazine that covered a story about one of the head honchos retiring from Alpha Security. He was responsible for many of the new products that Alpha Security is currently using with enormous amounts of success in retail anti-theft devices.

His peers all seemed to think he was a great guy, quiet and unassuming always looking for the next great innovation. He wanted to be able to provide a valuable service to the industry.

When so many companies are dead set on profits above all, it was heartwarming to see a story about more than just record setting profits. To see someone with such accolades being remembered for his personality and commitment to prevent shoplifting issues speaks volumes.

It says that Alpha Security values people and ideas, not just profits. It shows in their products. They are not designed to break the banks of small business owners.
