Rise Above the Challenge – Alpha Nano Gate

At a high-end retailer that I used to work for, the store had two levels with escalators going up and down in the center atrium. If anyone went up or down, we knew about it. There was no need to have anything like Alpha Nano Gate at the escalators because of our great visibility.

Where we could have used the Alpha Security Nano Gate was at the elevator. These were tucked away in a far corner right next to an exterior door. To this day, I don’t know how much merchandise we lost out that door because someone picked up something on the second floor, went on the elevator and then scooted right out the door. Simple Needs – Prevent Shoplifting

With all of the retail anti-theft devices on the market, it can be confusing and overwhelming to try and figure out what is the most useful for your shop. I have a friend who is a district loss prevention investigator for a national hardware chain. She has seen the rise and fall of many trends from both shoplifters and employee theft cases. The Alpha 2 Alarm lanyard is a retail anti-theft device comprised of a small block (only a few inches long) that has a wire lanyard permanently attached at one end. I would like to feel that I am pretty savvy when it comes to technology. There isn’t much that I can’t do or figure out. I am baffled when it comes to what exactly are the Alpha Security Alpha 2 Alarm and Alpha 3 Alarm retail anti theft devices.

What is the single biggest reason why employees find discarded packages? Shoplifters were attempting to eliminate the EAS tags. Most of the experienced shoplifters and professional thieves are aware that EAS tags are kept inside product packaging.

When I think about EAS alarms I have images of hard plastic tags sticking off of clothing and accessories. These are the tags that set off the alarms at the doors at the big retail shops that need them to prevent shoplifting. What doesn’t come to mind is liquor stores having the same retail anti theft devices and security in their stores.

Obviously the little plastic tags and pins are completely ineffective on a glass liquor or wine bottle. I know that there are different EAS tags and devices out there, but when I first started researching products, I didn’t know what exactly is the difference between the Alpha Security Alpha 2 Alarm and the Alpha 3 Alarm retail anti theft devices.

What a Mess – Alpha Jewel Lok to the Rescue

I went to the local big box last week to find a pair of earrings for a holiday party. Because I needed to match a specific outfit, I didn’t have a lot of wiggle room with what I could wear. As a Loss Prevention professional, I realized that the store didn’t appear to be deploying retail anti-theft devices.

It was so frustrating because this particular store had been completely ransacked in their fashion jewelry department. There were earrings missing, or lying on the ground in complete disarray. Just when I would spy a pair I really liked, there would be something wrong with them. With out a doubt, it would be the only pair like that on the rounder, too!

Eventually, I just ended up leaving without making a purchase. It was frustrating as a customer to have such rotten luck finding what I needed.
