Clothing security. How to avoid the hassle.

If you are like me, you want to keep your products safe without having to deal with a lot of unnecessary hassle.  Checkpoint tags help to do this.  Checkpoint tags are designed to be easy to use and are an effective way add clothing security without killing sales.  The first step is picking the right clothing security tags for the right product.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to tag everything.  Find a sensible price point or set of brands to start with.  You will find that most shoplifters doing worry with low dollar items or even store brand merchandise.  Focus on the well known name brands and items that are about $30 and higher.

The second part is knowing where to use security tags on clothes.  For most shirts and jeans you will want to put the hard clothing security tags in a seam.  This will mean the pin goes through an existing hole which covers easily upon removal.  It does no good to use the front of the shirt because your customer won’t want a hole in the middle of the shirt and your sales will suffer.  For items like coats I suggest a clothing alarm.  This alarm has a sensor cord that pinches the cuff of the jacket or item.  If tampered with the clothing alarm will sound and alert the employees of a problem.  Hard tags come in different sizes from the mini hard tag primarily for your intimate apparel and accessories the the larger plastic clothing security tags that will still provide security, but will make the products easier to try on for your customer.

The goal with security tags on clothes is still make sales.  You don’t want to lock your products down so that customers are too aggravated to try your products out.  Clothing security should be a benefit and not a hindrance to your business.

There’s more than one way to … um … add clothing security to your business!!

Just like with the well known “cat” argument, there is more than one way to add clothing security to your business.  Clothing security is a necessary “evil” that doesn’t have to be so evil if you have the right information.

By now most everyone expects to use security tags on clothes.  In order to prevent theft it has to be done.  But did you know you can make it trendy and visually aesthetic???  With Checkpoint tags you can.  Checkpoint tags are offered in a variety of different sizes, shapes and even types.  You can always use the familiar “hard” security tags on clothes.  It is easily recognizable and helps deter a lot of theft.  Now there are a variety of sizes of clothing security tags.  There are some great small tags that do well on intimate apparel and other small items.  They provide the necessary clothing security without sacrificing the customer’s ability to try the product on (which is a positive for sales).

Additionally, you can now get clothing security tags that are built into the product itself.  One of these solutions is the Checkpoint tags that are woven into the product.  This uses a “soft” tag that is woven to the inside of the clothes by the cleaning instructions or size label.  It is hard to remove and most customers don’t even realize it is there.  You still get the visual affect you want without sacrificing clothing security.

The clothing alarm is another solution.  You can hook up merchandise to the alarm on the rack.  If tampered with the alarm will sound and the employees can respond in the middle of the store as opposed to at the door when it is too late.  It also keeps from having to put holes in high end clothing.

Just a few options to break the mold of traditional thinking on using security tags on clothes.

What clothing security tags are you using???

With all of the clothing security tags out there how do you know what is right to use?  Do placing security tags on clothes really help?  Finding the right solution for clothing security can be quite a daunting task for those who have never tried.  Checkpoint tags make clothing security easy.

I have worked in several different retail settings and I have found clothes to be one of the hardest products to protect.  There are so many ways shoplifters and employees can steal them.  I think the easiest and most affordable solution is to put security tags on clothes.  By doing this, I am able to know when unpaid for merchandise is walking out of my door and I am also able to deter a lot of the theft.  One decision is what type of tag to use.  Checkpoint tags offer soft and hard tags as well as lanyards and a clothing alarm.  All of these clothing security devices work together to prevent theft.  The soft tags can be used in items like wallets, purses, shoes, etc.  The hard tags can be used on shirts, pants, coats and things of that nature.  You can use hard tags with lanyards to put on high end handbags, coats, silk items, shoes and others where you don’t really want to leave a hole in the product.  (Little tip, put hard tags in the seams of product to avoid leaving the holes that damage the product).  Finally, I use a clothing alarm for some of my really high end product.  This device actually clamps on the product and creates an audible alarm if tampered with.

Clothing security is a hard part of business, but Checkpoint tags make the process much easier.

Checkpoint Security Systems Open New Stores

Opening a new store can be a headache, but opening a new one without Checkpoint security systems can be an even bigger one. As a former store manager tasked with opening new stores, one of the first orders of business was to ensure I was being fitted with a Checkpoint security system. Working in retail, I knew the importance of checkpoint systems and what role checkpoint security tags played in helping protect my profits. Time and Time again I had seen shoplifters in my stores, attempting to remove checkpoint tags and other retail anti theft devices yet unable to. Did checkpoint systems stop shoplifting altogether? I can’t say for sure, but I can say that during my time as a store manager I saw dramatic decreases in the instances of theft and can attribute the positive inventory results to our anti shoplifting efforts and checkpoint security tags.

Retail theft prevention is not rocket science; however, most managers do not see or realize the importance of anti shoplifting efforts and what something like Checkpoint security systems can do for them. Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, a checkpoint security system works when pedestals placed at the entrance/exits recognizes concealed checkpoint tags and checkpoint labels as they pass through. The pedestals then activate with an audible alert, causing the shoplifter to be discovered.  Retail anti theft devices like checkpoint labels and checkpoint tags are important parts of the retail world and Checkpoint security systems are the leader in their class.

I wanted to stop shoplifting from happening in my store, and I wanted to make sure I was providing my customers with the highest levels of customer service. I knew that I couldn’t stop shoplifting completely, but I could put a serious damper on the number of incidents by installing a checkpoint security system. As always, any business owner, any manager looking to help stop shoplifting in their businesses and create an anti shoplifting environment, I highly recommend a retail theft prevention program and getting your stores fitted with checkpoint systems.

Take the Work out of Retail Theft Prevention with Checkpoint Systems

Sometimes the customers that you think are going to steal from you are honest, and other times the ones you would never believe are stealing are really robbing you blind.  You can’t judge a book by its cover and when it comes to identifying those that wish to steal from you anti shoplifting efforts can feel useless…..

Retail theft prevention is more than just observing customers and paying extra attention to those that are stealing.  Anti shoplifting techniques are broad and expansive, and can be geared to fit the type of business that you operate.  One option to help stop shoplifting is utilizing retail anti theft devices.

Checkpoint security systems are an option available.  Checkpoint tags and Checkpoint labels can be affixed to your high theft merchandise so that it is more difficult to steal.  Those customers that are looking for an easy steal see Checkpoint systems in place in your business and reconsider whether or not you are an easy target.  Simplicity is what most shoplifters desire when deciding whether or not to steal from a business, so by having a Checkpoint security system in place, you take away that element.

Checkpoint security tags are removable at the time the merchandise is purchased, at the register using a key.  Without the key, they are extremely difficult to remove and therefore offer a visual deterrent to the would-be shoplifter.  Shoplifters simply do not have the time in your business to try and remove Checkpoint tags before concealing the merchandise they wish to steal from you.  It is much easier to move on to the next, unprotected business.

Retail anti theft devices such as Checkpoint security systems can do the work for you when it comes to retail theft prevention.

Anti Shoplifting Efforts Boost Profits

Anti shoplifting programs have been around for many years. However, most involve the almost exclusive efforts of the apprehension of shoplifters. Although helpful, apprehending shoplifters is not the only constructive way to stop shoplifting. To stop shoplifting a dedicated, combined effort of retail theft prevention (like checkpoint tags) programs are necessary.

Checkpoint Security systems and checkpoint tags have been around for years, and are proven methods to proactively stop shoplifting. Of the many retail anti theft devices on the market today, Checkpoint security systems offer the retailer the tools to be anti shoplifting and the expertise to keep profits in stores. If you haven’t seen or heard of checkpoint security systems, you’ve been missing out. These checkpoint systems  work by recognizing checkpoint security tags which are affixed to merchandise that passes through the system.  Checkpoint systems are located almost everywhere. You walk into most any retailer and you’ll see the Checkpoint towers at the entrance/exit.

Checkpoint labels are another form of anti shoplifting tool. Attaching these checkpoint labels to smaller, easier to conceal merchandise is key. Once attached, the checkpoint labels become very difficult to remove, especially without damaging the merchandise. Retail theft prevention starts with checkpoint security systems. From here, you can build a solid program that will drive sales, safety and service.

You can find many retail anti theft devices on the market today but none are as tested and as trusted as the checkpoint security system itself.  A checkpoint security system is a leader in the retail theft prevention world and will continue to encourage the efforts of many retailers, through the regular use of checkpoint security tags; they will continue to help protect their profits.

Hair Extensions Sold By Beauty Supply Stores are Under Attack! Use Retail Theft Prevention To Stop Shoplifting!

For those of you that don’t know, hair extensions are all the rage today in the fashion industry. They are quick and easy means for women to change the style of their hair instantly. Hair extensions range in price from a few dollars a pack to several hundred. Of course their popularity and prices make them a prime target for theft. These items are clearly candidates for retail theft prevention and anti shoplifting programs.

Hair Extensions have not been exempt from the smash and grab issues occurring in the US today where thieves latterly smash into a retail store with a vehicle scoop up as much higher end product as possible and leave. But these items have also come on to the radar to the normal everyday shoplifter.

This goes to the age old problem, how does a retailer display their goods for sale allowing the good customers touch and evaluate their options while keeping the shoplifters away? We have a number of clients that have been dealing with this for some time with great success. The solution to stop shoplifting is simple. Use Checkpoint tags to shut the shoplifters down. Checkpoint tags attach directly to the wefted part of the hair extension. If the shoplifter attempts to steal it then the Checkpoint systems at the exit doors let staff know.

There is also another product line that complements Checkpoint Systems. Alpha High Theft Solutions produces several retail anti theft devices that will work on hair extensions. These include ink tags and peg-hook tags. Any of these allow a retailer to keep the hair extensions and other merchandise on the floor and available to the customer.

We can also use Checkpoint labels in retail theft prevention. The paper thin labels have an adhesive back and can be placed directly on the packaging either on the inside or outside. Checkpoint labels also have the advantage of being able to be used on almost all the other products in a Beauty Supply Store. Checkpoint labels come in various sizes from postage stamp size on up.

This creates an anti shoplifting program that works 24/7. It never takes a day off or calls in sick. It is always working even if you are busy or distracted.

If you want to stop shoplifting now you need to get retail theft prevention program. Shoplifting will not go away on its own. Wishing so will not make it happen. The use of retail anti theft devices is the key.

Checkpoint Systems Anti Shoplifting War in Atlanta Georgia

Checkpoint Systems is involved in an anti shoplifting war.  With Checkpoint Security Systems as an ally, retailers actually have a means to defeat the onslaught of shoplifters who pilfer merchandise day after day.

The weapons Checkpoint Security Systems offers are a powerful defense in the battle against thieves.  Checkpoint labels and Checkpoint tags attached to highly desirable merchandise repel shoplifters like there is a virtual wall around it.  Since most shoplifters have a leaning toward self-preservation, that is not being caught, they tend to attack weaker targets, those with weaker defenses that have  no Checkpoint security tags or Checkpoint labels protecting the objective merchandise.

The merchandise is still openly displayed and available to legitimate customers; the defensive tactic of applying Checkpoint labels and Checkpoint security tags only affects those attempting to remove merchandise from the store without paying for it first.  The anti shoplifting measures – Checkpoint tags and labels – must first be removed or deactivated by an employee at the point of sale.  Without this happening, the Checkpoint Systems EAS technology will detect the protected merchandise when it comes into proximity of the Checkpoint Security System located near the exit.  When the retail anti theft devices sound the alert, store staff can address the situation and correct it, preventing yet another shoplifting.

The combination of active Checkpoint Systems detection and passive deterrence of the presence of retail anti theft devices are powerful weapons in the  war against shoplifting.

Anti shoplifting Programs Keep Profits Posted

As if you didn’t already know, anti shoplifting programs keep your merchandise ready and available for customers to purchase. I find it very interesting that in today’s economic conditions, stores do not increase their anti shoplifting programs.

It’s a matter of fact, when the economy is down in the dump, levels of crime increase. None is more true that the act of shoplifting. As a former store manager, I couldn’t imagine myself running a store without a security program or more specifically, a Checkpoint security system. Checkpoint security systems are the most trusted, in my experience, with deterring instances of shoplifting. If you’ve never heard of checkpoint security systems, these checkpoint systems are a system of antenna’s placed at the entrance and exits of stores (some stores have them near restrooms and fitting rooms) and detect merchandise with checkpoint security tags attached. As the checkpoint tags pass through the system, typically the potential shoplifter drops the merchandise and flees. Retail anti theft devices like checkpoint systems not only help stop shoplifting but are an important part of any successful retail theft prevention program.

A co manager of mine was assigned to a store without checkpoint security systems. He was probably the most active advocate of retail anti theft devices I’ve ever met. This guy truly saw the importance of a checkpoint security system and its role on impacting profits. He complained to the main office and had a checkpoint security system installed with 45 days of taking over the store. All merchandise that could receive checkpoint labels, got checkpoint labels attached. His store was well protected. Checkpoint labels, like checkpoint tags, work well on smaller easier to conceal items. His efforts to stop shoplifting paid off when inventory came around. His shrink or loss as a percent to sales was lower than expected and his sales were 8% higher than the prior year. When he was asked what he did to so dramatically impact and improve his store, he replied “Due diligence, hard work, and Checkpoint security systems!” A store without a retail theft prevention program will suffer.
