Focus on customers not shoplifters with clothing security tags!

Great customer service drives retail businesses. Without great service, customers won’t want to come back and continuing buying your merchandise. But how can you deliver great service if all of your focus is on shoplifters and potential thieves? Allow clothing security tags to deter the shoplifters and free you up to deliver the service that will drive customers to come back time and time again.

A few days ago at a store neighboring my work, a shoplifter ran out with several pairs of jeans that had no clothing security tags. The associates and managers were in a panic outside of the store calling the police and attempting to describe what the thief looked like as he ran down the street with their clothes. I couldn’t help but wonder how many potential customers could have received great customer service in the time the associates were busy with the thief. They could have sold hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise! If only they had clothing security.

Occurrences such as the one above could have easily been prevented had that store installed clothing alarms. Installing Checkpoint tags and clothing alarms throughout your store can free up your associates to fully focus on the customer. Not only can security tags on clothes deter shoplifters, they have minimal interference to the customer who can simply take them to the register to have the clothing security removed at the time of purchase.

Don’t be the store that is not protected. Install clothing security, such as Checkpoint tags, on your merchandise and allow your associates to focus on the customer.

“It’s not important to put security tags on clothes”, says the sucker!!

Anyone who thinks it is not important to put security tags on clothes will not be in business long.  Clothes are perhaps the easiest items to steal.  Think about it.  The most obvious shoplifting advantage is fitting rooms.  Only clothing retailers have fitting rooms where shoplifters can conceal product in complete privacy.  All other retailers force shoplifters to at least steal on the floor where they can be observed either in person or on camera.  Secondly, no one questions the clothes people wear.  This means shoplifters can simply change clothes or put unpaid for clothes on over what they are wearing and it draws no attention.

In other retailers shoplifters have to carry bags, dress unseasonably or walk around with huge bulges under their clothes (where they have concealed product).  All of these things are dead giveaways to store personnel who are trained in shoplifting detection.  So with all that being said, it is definitely important to put security tags on clothes.

One of the top options to add clothing security to your store is by using clothing security tags.  One maker of clothing security is Checkpoint.  Checkpoint tags are a very reliable product that is well known by shoplifters.  When used with the clothing alarm, the Checkpoint tags will set off the clothing alarm when someone tries to leave with unpaid for merchandise.  This will give your associates the ability to potentially recover the merchandise or at least recognize the shoplifter and be ready the next time he/she comes in.  The other benefit is the deterrent effect.  When a would-be shoplifter sees an associate respond to a clothing alarm it lets them know up front that they will be noticed.  This in many cases will cause that person to leave your products alone and attempt theft somewhere less risky.

Clothing security is a must have tool for footwear theft.

As we enter the new season we have to worry about the new shoplifters that will be visiting our stores.  There are many different retailers who sell footwear and all know how hard it is to protect this product.  Most footwear theft is perpetrated by the shoplifter trading in his/her old shoes for new ones.  This is very hard to catch as no product is concealed and no one really questions what shoes a customer has on.  To help protect this expensive product I suggest using clothing security tags.

Checkpoint tags are a great product to help protect shoes.  You can use soft Checkpoint tags to hide under the insole.  Many shoplifters look for hard tags so this will keep them guessing, but when they walk out your associates will be alerted by your clothing alarm to the potential theft.  You can also use hard Checkpoint tags on shoes.  If the shoes have laces you can put the pin for the hard Checkpoint tags through the lace holes.  This will not damage the product and it is very hard for a would-be shoplifter to remove.

Another option to putting security tags on clothes is products by Alpha Security.  There are several clothing security devices that can be used and they will work with your existing AM and RF clothing alarm.  One option is the Fashion 2 accessory tag.  This tag has a little metal loop that will allow you to secure the hard tag to the shoe.  Another option is the 3 alarm cable lock.  This also is a hard tag with a cable to attach to the shoe, but it also has a built in alarm.  If tampered with the clothing alarm will sound immediately.  With all the theft today it is important to put security tags on clothes in order to protect the profits we work so hard to achieve.

Clothing Security tags – Can they help youClothing Security tags – Can they help you

When a consumer enters a clothing store they are looking for the best bargain for their dollar. When a shoplifter enters that same store they are looking for things they can steal without being detected or noticed. All business owners must address both of these issues when they open their doors for business. One of the many ways for a retailer to protect their clothing items is by using clothing security tags. The security tags on clothes help by setting off the clothing alarm at the exit notify staff that someone is trying to leave with unpaid merchandise. But clothing security also deters theft due to the clothing security tags being on the clothes a shoplifter doesn’t want to waste time having to remove the clothing security tags.

There are various types of checkpoint tags available for different types of merchandise from placing the security tags on clothing. There are certain checkpoint tags that can be used to protect fashion accessories and shoes.  These types of clothing alarm devices are helpful not just for the large retailers, but even small boutiques can benefit from clothing security. Clothing security tags can also allow retailers to showcase their more valuable merchandise with the comfort that the clothing security will deter theft. But if an attempt is made the clothing alarm will notify on any attempted to walk out with unpaid merchandise.

So become proactive protect your merchandise by placing security tags on clothes instead of watching your profits walk out the door.

Protect Clothing with Checkpoint Tags

My team recently attempted to detain a shoplifter that spent just five minutes in our store, but filled her purse with over $100 worth of merchandise.  She ran when approached but was later located by police.  The merchandise was recovered this time, but can you imagine the loss our business would have incurred if customers like this visited our store all day long?  Even at $100 per visit that loss would add up quickly, significantly decreasing our profits.

For businesses that sell clothing, this type of “grab-and-go” theft can still occur.  Since the thefts are often for return fraud or for resale, the shoplifter does not have to even take the time to look at sizes.  Security tags on clothes can help prevent this type of theft by being a visual deterrent to the shoplifter, telling him or her that you are serious about clothing security.

Clothing security tags attach to your high end and high theft clothes, sounding a clothing alarm should the item leave your business without being purchased.  Checkpoint tags are removed by your employees at the time of purchase, and can be reused on items as you sell through your products.  It is a minimal investment that can produce real results, combating loss caused by shoplifters.

Clothing security can help deter these grab and go thieves, or other types of shoplifters that may come into your business.  You and your employees, despite your best efforts, cannot watch every customer the entire time they are in your business.  Security tags on clothes can do some of that work for you by being a deterrent and encouraging the shoplifters to go elsewhere.

Protect Your Leather Items with Clothing Alarms

At the retail store I work at, our leather items are the most expensive and sought after by thieves. The high price tag equates to a higher resell value for those who want a five finger discount. This is why we always ensure we place clothing security tags on those pricey leather jackets. These Checkpoint tags are an indispensible resource for keeping those items on the shelf. Without security tags on clothes, thieves think it’ll be worth the risk of getting caught if they can get away with a $300 jacket.

In my experience, the 3Alarm clothing alarms are an excellent fit for any heavier jackets especially with the winter months fast approaching. The cable lock system slides right down the jacket arm and securely locks at the bottom. The great part about the 3Alarm is the ability for your customers to be able to try on the jacket without removing the clothing security tag. This enables an ease of access for the customer while maintaining a sense of control to tempted shoplifters.

The Checkpoint tags are tough, too. Not only does the size of the clothing alarm allow for easy access for the customer, but the clothing security tag material is not easily tampered with. Shoplifters are familiar with clothing security and they know the time spent attempting to remove the security tags on clothes only increases the risk of getting caught. That risk is not worth the reward, so next time the shoplifter will choose the store without clothing security. Don’t be the store that’s not protected. Make it tough on the shoplifters and force them to go somewhere else.

So what is the right type of clothing security to use?

There are many different types of clothing security options available on the market today.  One of the difficult issues is knowing which clothing security device is right for your business.  There are several options that I think are the best.

One clothing security option is Checkpoint tags.  Checkpoint tags are time tested and are one of the leading providers in the country.  Many major business chains use Checkpoint tags and the Checkpoint clothing alarm to protect their assets.  Many shoplifters know about these clothing security tags as well.  When shoplifters recognize that you have a quality retail theft solution they are more likely to leave your product alone and go try to steal somewhere else.  Shoplifters don’t like products that are hard to defeat so you will deter a lot of theft with Checkpoint tags.

Another solution is to use clothing security tags by Alpha Security.  Alpha is a newer product, but I have fallen in love with its products.  There are many options available to put security tags on clothes with Alpha.  They have standard hard tags and they also have tags with built in alarms.  These are the best.  If you also purchase the Nano Gate, which is Alpha’s clothing alarm, the pedestals will trigger the tag alarm when the product leaves the store.  It is easy for someone to say a regular EAS alarm is a false alarm, but it is really hard to explain away the alarm going off in their bag or from under their shirt.

Whichever solution you use, please know how important it is to put security tags on clothes.  Clothes are easy to steal and resell so they are a high target for Organized Retail Crime.  Checkpoint and Alpha solutions go a long way to keeping your profits safe.

Saving Softline Profits

In the current retail environment it is essential to reduce cost and increase profit.  One way to do this is to limit your exposure to soft line waste, due to theft.  The use of clothing security tags is very important, as clothing theft accounts for huge losses to soft line retailers.  The investment into clothing security tags can save you time and money, allowing you to focus more on customer service and less on theft prevention.

Placing security tags on clothes provides a retailer with a huge deterrent to theftClothing security tags have become a staple in most soft line retail outlets, as they are the first line of defense in preventing theft and waste in the retail market. As loss prevention professionals, it is imperative that all effective measures be taken to protect the assets of our stores. In addition to clothing security tags, which are placed directly on the clothing, there are also clothing alarms, which sound when Checkpoint tags pass through them.  Clothing alarms are a great deterrent as they are seen by possible shoplifters upon entry to your store and tell them you mean business

In my experience, I have seen first hand the difference the use of security tags on clothing has made in preventing clothing theft.  The investment into clothing security tags and a clothing alarm is a smart and strategic one.

The lack of Checkpoint tags used on clothing accessories is alarming!!

I am often surprised when I am shopping and don’t see clothing security on clothing accessories.  I find that many retailers remember to put security tags on clothes that are standard, such as shirts, pants and jackets.  But those same stores will not have clothing security tags on accessories such as: ties, gloves, scarves, etc.

To me, these seem like the most logical items to add clothing security to since they are small and easy to steal.  They also, generally are expensive.  I don’t know how many readers have purchased a tie recently, but many are about as expensive as a shirt and they are much easier to steal.  As we are approaching the cold weather season stores will start carrying gloves and scarves.  These again can be quite expensive and are much easier to steal than a winter coat, yet they are often forgotten.

One important note is to use Checkpoint tags that are appropriate for the size of accessory you want to protect.  Checkpoint tags come in a variety of sizes and styles.  For ties, you will not want to use a hard tag and puncture the tie itself so you may use a soft tag hidden under the price label (or embedded in the price label).  Another alternative is to use a woven label.  This would be woven on the backside of the tie and is harder to remove.  The same thing goes for scarves and other small accessories.  Now when looking at tagging gloves you have several options.  If they have elastic cuffs then I would use hard tags.  Hard clothing security tags are always the hardest to remove and provide the best security.  When you are looking at tagging leather gloves; however, you can’t really use hard tags so the soft tags are a more likely solution.

Are your cold weather items protected by Checkpoint tags?

Aaahhh.  Just had the first little taste of cool weather this past weekend and it already has me looking forward to the fall and winter months.  Of course, if you sell clothes then you have already been clearancing the summer merchandise and putting out your new fall line.  I just hope you remembered to use clothing security to protect you new merchandise.

We all know that cold weather merchandise is generally more expensive than warm weather since it takes more materials to produce.  Shoplifting also picks up around this time of year for several reasons.  One, it is easier to steal.  Shoplifters take full advantage of the ability to use bulky coats and clothes to conceal product.  Not something you can easily do in a tank top and shorts.  Additionally, we have the holidays fast approaching.  No one wants to be the shcmuck who shows up at the Christmas tree or party without any presents.  When times are tight that only leaves stealing as a solution.

With that said it is important to put security tags on clothes in order to protect you products.  Personally, I like the Checkpoint tags to deter theft.  Checkpoint tags are well known by shoplifters and they are reliable.  By putting security tags on clothes you force shoplifters to go elsewhere to steal.  Additionally, the Checkpoint clothing alarm is a quality product.  I have worked with clothing alarm systems in the past that would be triggered by cell phones and other electronic devices.  This does not happen with the Checkpoint systems.  They are tuned to a set frequency so that the clothing security tags trigger the alarm, but other devices do not.  This translates into better customer service by reducing false alarms and better theft deterrence as you can trust what the alarm is telling you.
