The best way that I have found to stop inventory discrepancies is to understand the three ways to shrink, or lose, merchandise. They are employee theft, shoplifting and operational breakdowns. I recently purchased a bottle of cologne as a present for my husband. Because it was a special present for him, I opted to actually wrap the box, instead of just throwing it in a gift bag.
