Having clothing security tags or a clothing alarm on your most valuable product line just makes sense. Placing security tags on clothes that are shoplifted more than others is a good clothing security measure. Clothing security tags are relatively inexpensive and return large savings on a small investment. When I was loss prevention associate I remember showing the store associates how to place security tags on clothes in their departments. In this particular store, we had a huge problem with our name brand clothing being stolen.
We would constantly find price tags and hangers from merchandise that had been stolen in the fitting rooms. One of the first measures I took to stop the problem was to increase the number of items that had clothing security tags on them. I wanted to improve the overall clothing security in the store. I also asked my manager to install a clothing alarm. After implementing all of the initiatives that I knew would make a difference, I began to see a noticeable increase in the number of clothing security tags that were being. I was also able to track a decrease in the number of price tags and hangers being found in the fitting rooms.
The clothing security tags that we found to be the most reliable and tamper resistant were Checkpoint tags. The Checkpoint tags were the most durable when perspective shoplifters would try and pulled them off in an effort to take the clothing. During the stores inventory it was obvious that because we used more security tags on clothes we reduce the loss and improved the clothing security in the store. The Checkpoint tags and the clothing alarm were the right tools for reducing losses in the store. It is really no other method more effective than security tagging clothes to reduce losses from theft.
