Don’t Overlook An Old Standby- Retail Anti Theft Devices

With all of the exciting advancements in retail anti theft devices, it is easy to overlook the effectiveness and usefulness of an old stand by- the Alpha Security Ink Tag.

The ink tag is a combination of typical retail anti theft devices (EAS tags) and vials of dye. Generally there is a glow in the dark ink and a dark blue or red dye in each tag. The point being, even if a shoplifter runs out of the store with merchandise that still bears an EAS tag, they will effectively destroy the merchandise when they tamper with the EAS tag to remove them.

These tags prevent shoplifting by providing the risk of getting caught by an alarm, in addition to ruining whatever they are trying to steal. If the merchandise is worthless, there is no point in stealing it. Clothing cannot be resold or worn easily when the ink stains the fabric beyond repair.

A suspected shoplifter who tampers with these tags will also get the ink stained on their hands. Investigator/ law enforcement will use those stains as evidence in court since the ink can be matched to the broken ink vials in the tags.
