When you conduct loss prevention training, how far are you taking it? There are several main parts when you train your employees about your store’s clothing security and the clothing alarm system.

The first part is the technical side of things. You have to teach your employees how to use the system. Show them what happens when clothing security tags come too close to the exit doors. This is probably the most common area that retailers are challenged with finding a balance. They need to balance the shopping habits and needs of their customers with the need for clothing security. How much is too much? When you are merchandising and stocking in your departments, traditionally you want to fill the shelves and the racks as much as you can. It is usually discouraged to have things in a back stockroom. How does this factor into clothing security? Can there be too much product on the sales floor?

If you have theft issues, then yes, you can have too much product out. Thieves will take every opportunity you give them. If you put out every piece of high theft merchandise, do not be surprised if the thieves actually take every piece.
