The Alpha Security Alpha Shark Tag generally is attached to the front of a garment in a very conspicuous place. It is to be removed by the customer after they purchase the item. Once the tag is removed, the retailer can decline the refund of that item. It is a way that retailers protect themselves from wardrobing.

This works wonderfully with clothing, shoes, on the other hand are a bit different. Alpha Shark Tags are not designed to fit onto shoes. This means that in order for your employees to discern a legitimate return versus a return involving wardrobing, you have to look for other clues.

The two primary places to look are at the foot bed and the sole. If you look inside the shoe, a worn shoe will start to show imprints of toes. Because this is not always reliable, look also to the sole for evidence of wear. When a shoe is worn outside of a house, you can see scuffs on the soles. You will also see tiny bits of dirt and gravel imbedded in it.

Remember to continue to use retail anti theft devices to prevent shoplifting of not only shoes, but also other clothing products. The Alpha Shark Tags are not a replacement for retail anti theft devices.
